I got a fraudulent call (8057264106/7606899396) today from a fraudster (fake name: Randip Singh) claiming as an officer of Indian Army. He pretended himself as a tenant who is searching home for rent in my locality & he got the information from "99acres.com". During 2-3 calls, he asked to send photos of the house & enquired few details about the locality. After that he finalized the deal without negotiating on the rent & shared the ID details to show that it is a genuine case. Then he told that the HR team would call me to transfer the advance amount. Within next 10-15 minutes, I got a call from a different number (7049427984) pretending as the HR person and asked me to open GooglePay & start the bank transfer by putting the details provided by him. It was suspicious to me as the HR person was calling at 10:30 PM. He was quite aggressive in completing the process & his voice sounded like an unprofessional one. I asked him, as I am the recipient, what is the need for me to provide the sender's account details in the bank transfer section, why can't he directly send the money through UPI. Then he lost his cool & told that as the amount has to be transferred directly from the Army merchant's account, this is the only procedure to be followed. Immediately I searched for the reverse UPI payment fraud & Army merchant account transfer fraud in the internet. Interestingly I found this guy's name (Randip Singh) populated throughout the internet as a regular offender & fraudster. Then I disconnected the call after denying to complete the bank transfer process.
Here are the details shared by him:
Canteen smart card no.- LA03030737032700B01 PAN CARD NO.- EGBPS5450K AADHAR CARD NO. - 637031995565
Such fraudsters/scammers should be sent behind the bars as soon as possible before they make more damage to the innocent people.
