fraud by the name of Deepak Bajrang Pawar from Army Assam Rifles employee

Hi Cyber Crime Team,

We are writing to report a potential case of fraud and identity theft that has been brought to our attention. We received a call from an individual who claimed to be from Hyderabad and was interested in renting our property. The person provided their mobile number as +919827732924 and shared copies of their Aadhaar card, PAN card, army ID, and a family photo.

However, He said his colonel will call me for transferring the amount as it will be going from the Army fund not from his Account, as they cannot transfer any amount from the bank, they will swipe their card and guide me in the process of transferring the secuity deposit  money from his card.. The Finance Manager then contacted us and asked us to add the person's HDFC bank account number to our Google Pay or UPI account.

We added the account number and followed the instructions given to us, which included entering 5 rupees and a pin. We saw 5 rupees added to our balance in Google Pay, but we were still unsure of how the process worked. The person then asked us to  enter 50,000 rupees enter pin, Initially, I maintained a balance under 1k before following his instructions, which later we did, but the transaction failed. The individual then contacted us again and requested that a minimum balance of 50,000 rupees or at least 25,000 rupees be maintained immediately to ensure the transfer of his funds.

We became suspicious here and asked the person to come to us directly instead of conducting the transaction online. We are concerned that this individual is using fraudulent means to obtain money and personal information from unsuspecting individuals. We believe that they are using army IDs to their fraudulent activities.

After searching his name details on Google, I found many complaints about him and saw that many others had the same id proof as me.

We urge the Cyber Police Team to take immediate action against such individuals to prevent others from falling into their trap. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.
