I am a credit card account holder with ICICI Bank. I received a call from 9250302149 .[THE NUMBER IS STILL ACTIVE] The lady on the call claimed that the reward points system for credit cards was being discontinued and instead a 'discount card' was being issued to all credit card holders for availing discounts whenever credit card transactions are being effected. She further said, that before dispatching the discount card she wanted to verify a few details. I asked her repeatedly about the kind of information she required, she insisted that all she needed were the open information on the card and nothing more.
She asked me for the expiry date, which I revealed.
She then asked for the validity from date, which I revealed as well.
She further asked me for the 16 digit number on my card, when I turned suspicious. I said this was an unusual request, however, she convinced me that this was an open detail and there was no harm in disclosing it. She further said that she could disclose the first 4 numbers from her end, if that gave me comfort. She stated the first 4 digits correctly and it gave me the belief that this could be a genuine call.
Then she asked me to turn the card and disclose the 7 digit number at the back including the CVV number.
At this point, I realized that this was a fraudulent call.
I asked the lady for her employee ID, she disclosed it to be 058ICI834. I asked her to disclose her name, she said, Khushi Sharma.
Then I asked her to stay online and told her that I would give her the number but she would have to stay on line and hold the call. Simultaneously, I tried reaching the cyber cell to trace her call, but I believe the lady realized this and disconnected immediately.
All concerned, please report the number and trace the culprits before anyone suffers a major loss.
